The Intencive project [1] falling under Interreg Europe programme, for which the Ministry for Gozo is a project partner [2], is nearing the end of phase 1.
The project team said that one of the action items was the implementation of an Action Plan. The Action Plan for Gozo was drafted following the lessons learnt and the exchange of experience exercises gathered from the cooperation and following various discussions. This was done to improve the Gozo policy instruments, it said.
It was explained that the Action Plan developed by the Ministry for Gozo is directed towards applying eHealth technologies [3] and innovation that address the needs and issues to:
Improve the quality of life of persons who are institutionalised in elderly care residences;
A Social AI Assistant Robot can be piloted in a residential home of the elderly in Gozo. and;
Allow for the continued integration of persons suffering from neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia in their local communities by living safely in personal residences. Remote monitoring of patients can also be piloted in Gozo.
The team said that discussions were held with the Gozo Regional Development Authority, who welcomed, approved and included the action items in the Gozo Regional Development Strategy.
The Action Plan was also approved by the Interreg Europe programme. It was launched locally in Gozo on the 30th of June.
It includes the actions that are to be implemented, the time frames associated with these, the costs and their funding sources.
