A Preliminary Market Consultation has been published by the Government for the building of a new Court in Gozo.

In a joint statement by the Justice Ministry, and the Gozo Ministry, it said that the call, which is being run by the Court Services, is to receive proposals and information on property, both land and buildings, in Victoria, Gozo, or in the vicinity, to be converted into a modern court.

“In recent years, the cases in the Gozo Court have increased and the daily functions and operations of the court have become more complex. Therefore it became evident that the existing building is no longer considered adequate to house the Courts of Gozo,” the Ministries said.

The Minister for Justice Jonathan Attard stressed that “this is an important step to identify a new and more suitable site to house the Gozo Law Court.”

He added that, “this building will offer the best resources both for lawyers and for people who need the justice services. It will also incorporate a Courts Registry of the best level in the presentation of acts, both civil and criminal.”

Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri said that this step is being taken in order to identify a site that can accommodate a new Court and encouraged the public, entities, organisations and anyone who is interested in participating in the public consultation process to do so.

Submissions must be made online on the ePPS system until January, the 6th, 2023, at 9:30am. No application submitted late will be considered.
