44 arrested in Marsalforn for living in Malta irregularly

44 people were arrested in Marsalforn on Sunday morning after being found living in Malta illegally.
The Police, assisted by members of the Detention Services carried out inspections in the area of Marsalforn, Gozo, during which several people of different nationalities were checked.
Police said that those detained came from Ghana, Nigeria, Syria, Gambia, Togo, Albania, Pakistan and Burkina Faso.
They were taken to a Detention Centre and a process was started for them not to remain in the country, while further investigations are still ongoing.
