Breast cancer awarenessIn its efforts to raise awareness about the prevention and the importance of early detection of breast cancer, the Breast Care Support Group, a non-profit voluntary organisation, has produced the “Be Breast Aware”/ “Kun Infurmata Dwar Sidrek” booklet which is distributed to the general public at its various events or through their website. Printing of these booklets is made possible thanks to the Vodafone Malta Foundation.

The Support Group works closely with the Health Promotion Department and the breast care nurses at Mater Dei Hospital. It is also affiliated with Europa Donna, the European-wide coalition of breast cancer associations. The Group offers support to women who have had or may be undergoing breast treatment of any kind. The majority of members are breast cancer survivors and they meet once a month to encourage and help one another.

The Breast Care Support Group offers one-to-one counselling with a professional counsellor for women in need of specialised help and their families. It also organises talks and lectures on breast awareness. The services and materials are free of charge and it depends solely on membership fees, sponsorships and donations to carry on its mission.
