Claudette, a juvenile loggerhead turtle, was released on Monday at a Blue Flag event at Ramla l-Hamra Bay in Gozo by Nature Trust – FEE Malta – Gozo Section.

Claudette was rescued on the 27th of February from Delimara, and was found to have a hook with fishing line as a cause of bycatch – the incidental capture of non-target species which are then discarded back to the sea. Sometimes it can be fish, but also dolphins, marine turtles and seabirds.

The turtle was released in the presence of the Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri, where awards to students participating in the ICC awareness project on marine litter were also presented.
