The blood drive organised on the 30th of August 2009, at the Calypso hotel in Marsalforn was a success. It took two months of preparation and coordination between Malta Red Cross Gozo Branch, the Community of Marsalforn with the help of the Marsalforn Chaplain Fr. Michael Borg and Malta Blood Donation Unit of Mater Dei.
A total 55 donors turned out in the improvised Clinic set up for the occasion. The majority of the donors donated blood for the first time.
The Malta Red Cross Gozo branch would like to thank the staff and management of the Calypso hotel, besides Fr. Michael Borg for his continuous support and the Zebbug Local Council for sponsoring the food and drinks given to the blood donors.
The Red Cross on Gozo provide a much needed and vital service, it deserves more financial support; especially from the government.
