The Local Councils’ Association Malta has been holding a series of meetings over the past weeks with Transport Minister Aaron Farrugia during which the document on parking in localities was discussed.
Meeting were also held in Malta and Gozo in order to discuss the document with all the Maltese Mayors.
Mayors and Councillors together with Mario Fava President of the Local Councils’ Association Malta and Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government Alison Zerafa Civelli, discussed different parking schemes.
The Local Councils’ Association Malta said that it is encouraging the Regional and Local Councils to start a consultation process with the residents and the commercial sector within the respective locality to start drafting proposals.

The Government is urging us to invest in a motorbike, electric preferably. Bikes can easily find places to park, but not always and if a bike is to fit in a parking space he has every right to occupy that whole space with his bike. Often you see long boxes because the designer couldn’t fit two boxes instead of a larger box cannot small boxes be created for bikes to park in?
