An estimated 371,511 inbound tourists visited the Maltese Islands during August. This was an increase of 18.3% when compared to last year.
The latest data from the National Statistics Office today also show that the total nights spent amounted to 2,900,455, and total expenditure reached almost €393.5 million.
It was noted that, the largest share of guest nights (83.1%) was spent in rented accommodation establishments.
Inbound tourists in the first eight months of 2023 amounted to 1,986,260, while total nights spent surpassed 13.5 million nights.
The NSO noted that total tourism expenditure for the same period was estimated at €1.8 billion, while expenditure per capita stood at €888.
