Sports tourism is a niche market which fits perfectly Gozo’s touristic mission.
With this in mind, the Gozo Tourism Association said that it “enthusiastically awaits” the start of the Rolex Middle Sea race as Gozo will be making history when a Gozitan sailing team will be competing in this renowned sea race with the sailing boat aptly named Gozo Dream.
The Association also acknowledged “the investment, efforts and the relentless preparations by this courageous team to compete in the prestigious Rolex Middle Sea Race with a Gozo sailing boat manned by a Gozitan crew.”
The assistance and support being extended by the Gozo Ministry toward the participation of the Gozo Dream in the Middle Sea race, was also noted by the GTA.
It stressed that, “sports tourism in Gozo needs this kind of commitment and encouragement.”
The GTA added that “it is also fitting that the Ministry for Gozo collaborated so that the Gozo Dream will be hoisting its sails with the Visit Gozo brand.”
This is a great opportunity to promote Gozo as a sports destination among sailing and yachting enthusiasts, the GTA said.
The Gozo Tourism Association concluded by congratulating the nine crew members of the Gozo Dream for persisting in their aspirations to arrive at this stage and augured them every possible success in the Rolex Middle Sea Race.
