The third edition of the Gozo Arts Weekend will be staged over the last weekend of January – between the 26th and 28th.

This year, the Gozo Arts Weekend will focus on the work of Gozo artist, Chev. Paolo Camilleri Cauchi, who is synonymous with art which can be found both in local churches and abroad, through which he has paid tribute to Gozo and made a name for himself. This is apart from hundreds of his paintings that can be found in private collections all over the world.

Gozo and Planning Minister Clint Camilleri said that this event will kick off the cultural calendar that has been prepared in Gozo for this year.

He said that culture, like language and traditions, is an important element of what distinguishes a nation from another and the artists with their talents, ideas, thoughts and subjects that they deal with, they deliver their message and shape the rich culture of our country.

“Therefore it is necessary not only to recognise the artists, but more than that to appreciate them,” the Minister said. This is the highlight of the Gozo Arts Weekend where every year a prominent artist, who has left a mark in Gozo, is remembered for the achievements he has made and more than that, through various activities, we bring art close to the public.
