There were 208 reported traffic accidents in Gozo during first quarter of this year, up by 12 on 2023, the National Statistics Office said. There were no fatalities.

Of the 208 accidents, 175 were reported as non-injury road traffic accidents, up by 6 on 2023. There were 33 reported with injuries involved, up by 6 on last year.

Victoria recorded the highest number of accidents with 74, this was followed by Xewkija with 41, Ghajnsielem 17, while Xaghra recorded 16.

Also in Gozo – Sannat, Fontana, Ghasri and San Lawrenz all registered less than five road traffic accidents.

On a national basis, during the first quarter there was one road traffic fatality involving a male.

Road traffic accidents during the same period decreased by 0.3% and casualties decreased by 8.2% when compared to the same period in 2023.

In the first three months of 2024, the highest number of road traffic accidents occurred on Thursdays with 613 cases or 16.1% of the total.

Qormi registered the highest number of road traffic accidents at 256 cases.
