The Ghajnsielem Local Council has announced that is has once again benefitted from Government funding, this time to embellish the area surrounding the historic Lourdes chapel.

The council successfully applied for the LESA ‘Community Projects 2024’ scheme and will benefit from €80,000.

The grant was presented to Ghajnsielem Mayor Kevin Cauchi by Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri, in the presence of Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government Alison Zerafa Civelli and the CEO of LESA, Svetlick Flores.It was explained that the LESA funds are the result of fines collected and after deducting costs, the balance is returned for the use of the communities through grant schemes.

The Ghajnsielem expressed special thanks to Architect Shawn Micallef for the design of this project.

It added that applications for permits are already submitted. ”We look forward to see this exciting project being implemented for the benefit of all the community.”
