Jorg Bottcher, who was born in Germany but now resides in, he is celebrating his 60th birthday and 30 years in art through his exhibition ‘Mostly abstract’ which has been set up at the Exhibition Hall of the Ministry for Gozo.

Jorg is a self-taught artist and an accomplished photographer endowed with a keen eye for the ordinary in which he is apt to discover something extraordinary. This keen sense of observation has helped him to find beauty in ugliness, and turned abandoned buildings, dilapidated facades, old doors, rusty cars etc into pleasant and attractive decorative works of art

He first visited our islands in 1978 and was fascinated with the colours and the Mediterranaen light and decided to make Gozo his permanent home, he has been living in Zebbug since 1992.

Jorg has had several solo exhibitions of paintings and photography, and has participated in collective exhibitions as well.

In his photographic work, he tries to captures local life and heritage and his August Farmhouse Exhibition has now become an annual event in Gozo.

This exhibition was inaugurated by Mr Anthony Borg, Head of Secretariat, on behalf of the Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono, and will be open to the public up to the 29th of October 2009.
