According to data from the National Statistics Office, in May, the annual rate of inflation as measured by the RPI was 1.5%, down from 1.6% in April.

The largest contribution to the overall annual inflation was measured in the Food Index (+0.78 percentage points), which, as in previous months, is due to the higher prices of take-aways.

The largest downward contribution was recorded in the Transport and Communication Index (-0.51 percentage points) mainly reflecting lower prices of mobile phone services.

The 12-month moving average rate for May stood at 3.3%.
