35 people have graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the Gozo Campus of Queen Mary University of London, during a ceremony held within the walls of the Cittadella in Victoria.
It was explained that in the Gozo Campus there are 23 Maltese working, including academics and 280 students from 52 nations are currently attending courses there.
Prime Minister Robert Abela, speaking at the ceremony, said that ‘with the investment in the health sector, particularly in Gozo, it should increase the potential of this renowned University with a campus in our country.”
The Prime Minister spoke about the master plan for the Gozo General Hospital, which he said includes a plan to build an anatomy centre and a new centre for research. ”These investments will not only help provide a quality health service in Gozo but will also help the University continue to give students a strong experience.
In his address the PM referred to the Queen Mary University of London as a wonderful example of excellence in education that has campus in the heart of Gozo.
The Prime Minister said that the history of this University in Gozo is one of success which was also welcomed by the social partners in Gozo and the Gozitan community.
Dr. Abela concluded by congratulating the new graduates and said that their success should reflect in more good for the community.

Don’t know where all these 280 students hideaway, we lived overlooking the ‘campus’ ever since it was built and it is unusual to see more than the odd few now and then, even in the hospital.
