Dwejra Tower is extending it’s visitor opening times during August. As from Thursday 1st August, the tower will now open every week day (Monday to Friday) from 9am to 2pm.

The tower will continue to open on Sunday mornings as at present, and also at other times for group visits, subject to volunteer availability. If the red and white flag is flying, then the tower is open.

Entrance to the tower is free of charge (however, Din l-Art Helwa (DLH) appreciates any donation visitors might want to give). Everyone is welcome.

The tower’s new, illustrated information panels will guide visitors through the fascinating history of this fully restored knight’s era coastal watchtower, dating from 1652, at the time of Grand Master Lascaris. This iconic heritage site also served as an military observation post during both World Wars.Tower factsheets are available in Maltese, English, and a wide range of other languages.

If weather conditions allow, DLH said that visitors will also be able to enjoy stunning roof top views over the surrounding coastline at Dwejra and the nearby Fungus Rock.

The recent Dwejra Tower restoration works were part of ‘The Northern Coastal Watch’ project, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund Operational Programme 2014 – 2020 and the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA).

Din l-Art Helwa, National Trust of Malta, is a non-governmental, not-for-profit, voluntary organisation founded in 1965 to safeguard the historic, artistic and natural heritage of Malta. Since its foundation, Din l-Art Helwa has restored and managed numerous cultural sites of immense historic and environmental importance.
