Last Sunday at San Lawrenz, after a mass that was chaired by HE Bishop Mario Grech, together with the Parish priest, the Vicar and Fr Joseph Piscopo, Mgr Salv Debrincat, Chancellor of the Curia read out a decree by Pope Benedict XVI in which he appointed Fr Joseph Piscopo his canon. The congregation present welcomed the news that the great work of Fr Joseph, both as the hospital parish priest and within the parish of San Lawrenz was acknowledged.

Fr Joseph has been serving San Lawrenz and the diocese as a priest for the past 51 years, besides serving as priest in the hospital, a service to which he was dedicated wholeheartedly.

The village of San Lawrenz and the parish are very close to his heart and he has worked very hard over the years to advance the progress of his birthplace. Fr Joseph was congratulated by the Parish priest, Ignatius Borg, as well as the San Lawrenz Local Council.
