Europe Direct Gozo organised this year’s Network of Networks meeting at the Massar Winery complex in Gharb.
It explained that the primary objective of the meeting was to bring together Malta’s EU-related national contact points, information providers, and key stakeholders.
Discussions addressed issues of mutual interest, to explore opportunities for further collaboration, and exchange best practices.
During the event, Mr. Anthony Hili, the owner of Massar Winery, provided an insightful overview of the winemaking process, followed by a wine-tasting session accompanied by Gozitan delicacies. In light of the significance of the Farm to Fork Strategy within the EU’s Green Deal,
Europe Direct Gozo said that Mr. Hili’s presentation offered valuable perspectives on how this strategy can be implemented at the local level while remaining commercially sustainable.
Mr Hili also stressed on the importance of the agricultural sector for Gozo, its sustainability, and the importance of wine making to maintain such a sector in a small island such as Gozo.
He also provided insights on the role of EU funding in developing his facilities.
The session, while entertaining, provided valuable insights on how such a sector can be sustained for the future.
