January's unemployment rate remains stable at 3.0%The unemployment rate in January was 3.0%, this was at par with the previous five months, the National Statistics Office said today. The figure was down by 0.4 percentage points on January 2024.

The number of unemployed persons was 9,962, a slight decrease of 0.5% from the previous month and decreasing by 9.8% on the same period in 2024.

The NSO noted that the 25 to 74 age group was once again the major contributor to the overall level of unemployment at 6,826 – 68.5%. The figure for unemployed youths amounted to 3,136 – 31.5%.

The unemployment rate for both males and females was 3.0%, on par with December.

The unemployment rate during January for persons aged 15 to 24 years (youth unemployment rate) was 10.0% while the rate for those aged between 25 and 74 years stood at 2.2%, which was the same as December.
