25 different cultural activities will be held by 7 local councils across Gozo and 18 in Malta. These will be carried out through a funding scheme issued by the Directorate for Local Government.

In Gozo, activities will be held in Ghajnsielem, Kercem and Santa Lucija, Qala, Sannat, Xaghra, Xewkija and Zebbug.

This was announced by the Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government Alison Zerafa Civelli and the Director General of the Local Government Division Emil Vassallo.

They explained that around €500,000 in funds were allocated between all the successful local councils, in order to carry out these activities, which vary from summer nights, agricultural exhibitions, and those linked to the attractions of the respective localities.

Parliamentary Secretary Alison Zerafa Civelli said that, “throughout the year we issue a number of schemes such as those linked to Christmas, Easter and Summer. This is part of the Government’s strategy to keep communities alive through quality activities.”

In Malta, the local councils are: Attard, Mellieha, San Gwann, Birkirkara, Gzira, Gharghur, Iklin, Sliema, Ta’ Xbiex, Kalkara, Xgajra, Luqa, Marsaxlokk, Santa Venera, Mdina, Dingli, Kirkop and Zurrieq.
