World Bee Day is celebrated on the 20th of May and to celebrate the event Peter Paul Grech Primary School in Kercem took part in the project “Globe Bloom and Buzz,” which highlights the importance of bees – especially significant this year, as last September the bee was declared Malta’s national insect.

The school collaborated with the Kercem Local Council, which provided full support for the project. As part of the initiative, the children painted old tyres and turned them into plant pots, which have now been placed in the garden near the football ground for the whole community to enjoy.

The Kercem Local Council said that it recognises and congratulatse the entire school – the teachers, headmaster, and the students – for their hard work.

“Initiatives like these not only bring a good name to the school and the village, but also teach values and lessons that students will carry with them for life,” said the Council.
