BOV Istrina Piggy Bank Campaign raises €75,000The BOV Istrina Piggy Bank Campaign 2009 has raised a record total of €45,115, the result of a highly successful three month long campaign that saw the distribution of over 7,000 piggy Banks in schools around Malta and Gozo.

This year’s campaign saw Bank of Valletta and the Malta Community Chest Fund collaborate in a nation-wide fund raising drive that involved thousands of children in state, church and private schools. A selection of retail outlets located in Malta’s main shopping areas also participated and collected additional funds from the general public.

Bank of Valletta CEO Tonio Depasquale was accompanied by numerous children to present the funds during the live broadcast of Istrina which was held on the 26th of December.

Speaking during the broadcast Mr Depasquale said, “I am extremely proud to present this amount on behalf of all the school children who participated actively in this fund-raising event. This year has been by far the most successful campaign to date and the enthusiasm shown by school children and members of the public has encouraged us to make a further donation to bring the total amount to €75,000. Bank of Valletta is pleased to be part of such an important event and I am sure that our contribution will help the Malta Community Chest Fund in its efforts to support those members of society that are most in need.”
