‘La Notte – In Maschera’ a carnival celebration in Victoria

The Victoria Local Council has organised an evening of activities to celebrate the carnival in the city, entitled ‘La Notte – in Maschera. The festivities will take place next Saturday evening, the 13th of February, 2010.
The activities througout the evening will include, Youth Bands, Big Band Brothers, Island Brass Ensemble, Street Theatre, Preacher’s Corner, Ball Room dancing, costumes competitions, photography competition, traditional music, traditional food, prinjolata, Carnival floats, and many more.
The varied entertainment will take place in the historical quarters of Victoria, such as, Independence Square, St. George’s Square, St Sabina Square, Republic Street, St George’s Street, Library Street, St Mary’s Street, Arch. Saver Cassar Street, Sir Adrian Dingli Street and Narrow Street, to name but a few. The evenings events will start at 7.30pm and finish at 1.00am.
As part of the carnival celebrations, Victoria Local Council is organising a carnival photography competition in order to promote both local talent as well as the beauty of carnival in Victoria.

The event has been orgainsed by the council in conjunction with the Ministry for Gozo National and Regional Celebrations Committee and supported by Vodafone Malta.

7.30pm – 8.30pm Anh hour for children and adults animated by young singers Miriam Christine Borg
8.30pm – 9.30pm Spectacle of ballroom dancing Ballroom by Tony Laurence Ensemble
11.00pm – 01.00am Great concert by the Big Band Brothers. Special Guests Chiara & Pamela

7.00pm – 9.0pm Street theatre and other animation by the Victoria Local Council Youth
Pjazza San Gorg
9.30pm – 11.00pm Concert of pop music from the Island Brass Band
Triq id-Dejqa
8.30pm – 9.30pm Traditional music from the time of the Carnival by Seguna Folk Group
9:30p.m. – 10:30pm. Ballroom dancing by couples from the Tony Laurence Ballroom Ensemble
10:30pm – 11:30pm Maltese popular songs by Christabelle & Kevin
