Environmental health warning issued on ceramic mugs

In terms of the Food Safety Act and the EC Regulation 178 of 2002, the Department for Environmental Health wishes to inform the public that as a precaution, ceramic mugs bearing the trade mark Panama Farmyards are not to be used.
This warning is being issued, following a monitoring programme carried out on the local market by this Department, whereby it resulted the presence of lead in this kind of mugs exceeded levels laid down in Council Directive 84/500/EEC of 15 October 1984 on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to ceramic articles intended to come into contact with foodstuffs.
