On the eve of the popular commemoration of Our Lady of Sorrows in the Maltese Islands, Mr Kurt Cassar will deliver a public talk at Il-Hagar Museum, in which he will explore the origins of this much-cherished devotion in Gozo.
As with each day of Holy Week in Gozo, this commemoration is accompanied by a number of traditions which, over time, have been adopted and adapted from neighbouring countries to suit the local context.
The talk will trace how these traditions evolved and will also shed light on others that have since faded from memory.
The devotion to Our Lady of Sorrows in Gozo: Past and Present, is taking place this Thursday, the 26th of March, starting at 7.30pm.
As always, admission is free, but seat reservations are encouraged by sending an email to events@heartofgozo.org.mt.
The museum is located in St George’s Square, Victoria.
