Nationalist Party Leader Alex Borg, during a meeting on Thursday with representatives of the Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses (MUMN), outlined in detail how the PN intends to deliver ”A Fresh Start” to the healthcare sector.

During the meeting, a number of key themes were discussed, including the working conditions of healthcare professionals, the need for increased investment in health services, and the importance of keeping the patient at the centre of national policy.

Alex Borg explained how the PN is ”presenting a vision built on concrete and sustainable proposals aimed at strengthening public healthcare services and improving conditions for both patients and professionals.” In this regard, he mentioned the proposal to grant Maltese specialists working abroad a ”five-year tax break if they return to work in Malta.”

He also highlighted that a new Nationalist Government ”aims to encourage more young people to pursue careers in the medical sector. For this reason, students choosing health-related subjects would see their stipend increased to the level of the minimum wage – approximately €1,000 per month.”

Accompanied by PN candidates Stephen Spiteri, Ian Vassallo, Ivan Castillo, Norma Camilleri and Ray Gatt, the PN Leader said that this meeting ”further strengthens dialogue with all those who genuinely want to deliver A Fresh Start in the healthcare sector.”
