Data from the National Statistics Office today has shown that in April the seasonally adjusted monthly unemployment rate stood at 3.6%, an increase of 0.1 percentage points compared with the previous month.

The number of unemployed persons was 12,400, an increase of 1.4% on the previous month and an increase of 22.1% on the same month in 2025.

The NSO noted that the 25 to 74 age group was once again the major contributor to the overall level of unemployment totalling 9,690 or 78.1%. The figure for unemployed youths amounted 2,710 or 21.9%.

The unemployment rate for males stood at 3.6%, remaining stable when compared to the previous month. The rate for females stood at 3.5%, an increase of 0.1 percentage points compared to the previous month.

The unemployment rate for persons aged 15 to 24 years (youth unemployment rate) reached 9.1%. The rate for those aged between 25 and 74 years stood at 3.0%.
