After obtaining the approval the GAIA Foundation, who manage Ramla Bay and the Malta Environment and Planning, workers from the hygeine department of the Projects and Development Section within the Ministry for Gozo, started the clean up of large stones and pebbles, from Ramla Bay, Gozo.
The strong currents and storms which had occurred over the winter period, caused areas of the beach to become covered with the stones. The Ministry said that the red sand for which the beach is noted for, had become covered more than usual with the stones.
On the recommendation of the GIA Foundation and MEPA, who had both monitored the work being carried out, the stones are to be landfilled and capped with sand.
The Ministry for Gozo, concluded be saying that cleanliness of the beaches is of utmost importance, particularly in the summer season.

The Hygiene department and the Environment Planning department should take more action to protect this Sandy Beach, because if that Nadur Cemetery starts all the ground water from the top, between the graves and from under the cemetery will finish down on this RED, SUNNY, SANDY RAMLA BAY.
Ramla Bay is the best beach in Gozo. Lets keep it that way – free of stones and litter.
There is always something going on to spoil Ramla Bay.
First the Xaghra Villas then the Nadur Cemetery and now the pebbles and stones …….Let us take good care of this natural beauty of Ramla L Hamra and stop any kind of disaster that threatens this fiery coloured beach.
