Last Sunday, the 4th of July, Gharb Council held the annual ‘Infiorata’ for the 9th consecutive time on the Gharb church parvis.

This year’s design was created by Mr Michael Bajada and included the European Destination of Excellence EU Project logo under which the Gharb Local Council has been recognised for it’s great efforts and achievements in the locality, the 75th anniversary of the in conoration of the titular painting of Madonna ta’ Pinu and the visit of Pope Benedict XIV to Malta which happened earlier this year.

Works started early on Sunday afternoon under the direction of Gharb Mayor, David Apap as well as the artist himself, with the help of local volunteers who gathered together on the church parvis and started creating the ‘Infiorata’ by laying and arranging the flowers forming the desired design.

The ‘Infiorata’ was finished just in time for the procession with the statue of the Visitation of Our Lady to St. Elizabeth to pass over this carpet of flowers later in the evening.
