For some years now, the Gozo NGOs Association has been commemorating International Volunteers Day with a couple of activities near the 5th of December.
This time round, a committee chaired by the Vice President of the Gozo NGOs Association Council, Dr Raymond C. Xerri, is preparing The First Gozo International Voluntary Day Event, appropriately with the acronym “GIVE.” The event will get underway this coming Sunday, the 28th of November, and will finish on Wednesday, the 1st of December, at the Main Arena of the Gozo Sports Complex in Victoria, Gozo.
A good number of NGOs, thirty in all, from a wide range of sectors, have accepted the invitation to advertise their endeavours. Moreover quite a few will be offering music, song, dance, competitions and information, it will also be possible to acquire their productions. A total of six embassies will also be present, there participation auguring well for future editions of this event.
The opening ceremony is on Sunday from 10 am, with a varied programme which will only conclude at about 7pm. The inaugural speech will be given by the Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono, the Gozo Ministry having offered it’s full support.
Gozitan and Maltese public and private schools are invited to bring their students from Monday to Wednesday, but opening hours for the general public – besides Sunday – are: Monday and Tuesday 9am to 7pm and Wednesday 9am to 1pm.
There is no entrance fee for attending this excellent occasion and everyone is warmly invited to visit and join in.
