Bethlehem f’Ghajnsielem had a busy and successful weekend, despite the windy weather, with many people visiting and enjoying the nativity village scenes.

The birth of a baby donkey over the weekend in the nativity village proved to be a popular attraction with the visitors.

Thousands of students from several colleges and church schools accompanied by their teachers and some parents have visited the Ghajnsielem nativity village over the past week which was once again animated by the Ghajnsielem Primary School students.

Visitors to the village also included the Children’s Commissioner, Mrs Helen D’Amato, Ms Marvic Refalo, EkoSkola Coordinator Gozo, Ms Audrey Gauci, EkoSkola Coordinator, Malta, and Profs. Paul J. Pace, Head of EkoSkola Programme. Parliamentary Secretary Dr. Chris Said also took the opportunity to visit the event accompanied by Ghajnsielem Mayor Mr Francis Cauchi and project manager Mr Franco Ciangura.

The visiting students were also given an educational booklet (Ktieb il-Presepju 2) which included several games and informational material. Through the assitance of Benna, Eco-Gozo and Hans’On farming, the children were given a glass of fresh milk to promote healthy living and a cypress tree seeds to bring the message that Christmas is not a time to cut down trees, but to plant them because Christmas is about birth and the creation of life and not destruction.
