The Gozo SPCA would like to wish everyone A Happy Christmas and a Healthy New Year, with thanks to all who have given their help in 2010.
• SNOOPY – He was found near the Kempinski Hotel in November 2006 and was rehomed to the St James Agnew Respite Centre as a Pets As Therapy (PAT) dog but returned when the home closed in June 2008. He is a very calm dog who enjoys walks and would suit an older person although he is very good with children and always attends school visits. He is about 4 years and is house trained.
• CALLA – She was handed in by her owner in Qala in August 2009 and has been with the Gozo SPCA ever since. She is quite excitable and gets on well with other dogs and children. She is about 18 months old and will need to be house trained.
• MISCHIEF – He was found on the road between Munxar and Xlendi in July 2009 and apart from a trial re homing has been at the cenre ever since. He has a lovely nature and is a well behaved dog who loves people and other dogs. He is about 18 months old and will need to be house trained.
• LYNETTE – She was one of 6 puppies rescued in January 2010 when their owner was seen to throw them away, there were 6 puppies and the finder had managed to re home 2 before she was forced, due to work commitments, to hand them over to the Gozo SPCA who managed to rehome all four puppies but Lynette was returned when her new owner could no longer keep her. She is a very fun loving dog and would suit a family who could play with her. She is nearly a year old and is almost house trained.
• JANEY – She was found in Ghajnsielem in December 2009 in a good condition as she was being fed in the street by kind people. She was rehomed in September 2009, but was returned to to the centre with Rocky when her owner had to leave the country urgently. She was also a bit overweight, but with a good diet and frequent walking she is now of a good weight. She loves walks and would keep going all day and would suit a family. She is about 3½ years old and is house trained.
• MAISIE – She was found wandering at Dwejra in August 2010 and was a little thin but she has now regained the weight with a good diet. Like most Pointer Cross dogs she is fond of walking and loves the runs up at Ta’Cenc. She is about 6 months old and will need to be house trained.
• ROCKY – He was one of 7 puppies born in the valley at Kercem and all the puppies except him found homes. The Gozo SPCA were able to re home him but he arrived back at the centre with Janey when his owner had to leave the country urgently. Like most Pointer Cross dogs he is fond of walking and loves the runs up at Ta’Cenc. He is about 8 months old and will need to be house trained.
• WALSHIE – He was found wandering on the road by the quarries at San Lawrenz. He is a lovely puppy who would play all day he gets on very well with other dogs and would be a great family dog. He is about 6 months old and will need to be house trained.
• KIM – He was found limping at Ghajnsielem and was taken into the centre, the vet checked him out and found that his back left foot had been fractured some time ago, as the foot did not appear to be causing him any pain or trouble walking it was decided to leave it alone. He is a very friendly puppy and would suit a family. He is about 5 months old and already house trained.
