Dal Segno Al Sogno is to be performed on Thursday, the 13th of January, at St. Augustine’s Monastery, Victoria, Gozo.
The performance will be played in English by Nadia Gatt and in Italian by Amina Contin.
The idea of transforming a book, conceived as a poetic accompaniment during an exhibition, into a performance derives from the meeting between codirector and coordinator Amina Contin and Gozitan actress Nadia Gatt during the cultural activity 12 STEPS which took place over the summer of 2010 at the Cittadella.
The various texts therefore wind along a path of interaction between theatrical gestures, recited words (in English by Nadia and in Italian by Amina), and paintings which come alive together with impressive photos projected on big screen. The two languages intertwine in a kind of countermelody which goes beyond the requirement to comprehend the language.
The photography and video is by Daniel Cilia (Malta), engravings by Arlecchino Claudia Contin (Italy) and the text by Amina Contin.
An exhibition of engravings and photography, entitled Dal Segno Al Sogno, will also take place on the same evening.
