San Lawrenz Local Council has been invited to attend the Award Presentation Ceremony as a semi finalist of the national competitions ‘Clean Localities Initiative Award’ and ‘Community Involvement Award’

Through the Parliamentary Secretariat responsible for Local Councils, the government has recently launched two competitions amongst the Local Councils. One is the ‘Clean Localities Initiative Award’ and the other is the ‘Community Involvement Award.’

The council said that the locality was totally committed to raise more awareness towards a cleaner locality. During the year many initiatives were taken in this sense where all the community became involved so that today San Lawrence has a locality which is more conscious of cleanliness. In connection with this campaign the characters of Wenzu and Xmejxa were inaugurated and will accompany the children and help them to love and strive for a Clean Locality.

In the ‘Community Involvement Award’ competition, the council said that it is also being classified for its commitment to involve the community in the council’s activities, such as monthly outings, educational initiatives taken and in its work to involve the children and other age groups.

The prize giving ceremonies in which the results will be announced are to be held on Tuesday, the 8th of March and Wednesday, the 23rd of March.
