Good Friday should remain Holy and a special day - GRTUGRTU has said that “If there is one day in the calendar on which all Maltese agree that it should be kept Holy and be maintained a special family day, it is certainly Good Friday.”

It is for this reason that GRTU said it “has taken action to ensure that the Legal Notice defining shopping hours is precisely worded as a guarantee that no permits are issued for opening of retailing on Good Fridays.”

“GRTU action is not aimed at any one particular establishment but simply to clarify that this is the one special day out of all 365 days where everyone ought to agree that it should remain Holy and a special family day,” the chamber said.

GRTU concluded saying “it is satisfied that Government has replied positively to its request.”
