April industrial production figures down slightly on last yearProvisional data show that industrial production edged down by 0.3 per cent in April from 103.8 points in April in the previous year. During this period, the production of energy and capital goods went up by 3.3 and 9.6 per cent respectively. However, declines of 2.9 and 1.2 per cent were registered in the production of intermediate and consumer goods respectively.

At the NACE division level, the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products, manufacture of food products and manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and preparations decreased by 6.6, 12.4 and 5.8 per cent respectively, pulling the index down. On the other hand, and partly offsetting the decline in the overall index, other manufacturing, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, manufacture of wearing apparel and printing and reproduction of recorded media, increased by 3.7, 3.1, 8.7 and 37.0 per cent respectively.
