The stories covered in this weeks issue are:

1. The Gozo diocese held a Marian manifestation in Marsalforn for a clean moral environment. The function started with the rosary, followed by a concelebrated Mass led by Gozo Bishop, Mgr. Mario Grech, with the participation of the Voci Angelice choir of Marija Bambina parish of Xaghra. At the end of Mass Mgr George Bezzina presented €6,000 to Bishop Mgr Grech for the Sisters of the Poor Clares’ new premises in Victoria to open on Thursday August 25. The money was raised by Mgr Bezzina during various programmes on Radio RTK. Donations collected during Mass went to two people who are undergoing health care abroad.

2. Concurrently works are proceeding on the EU funded project which by 2013 will see the restoration of the entire 1km perimeter of fortified walls which define the precincts of the Cittadella. At present the joint venture MC Restauri and AF Ellis Home Decor is executing the restoration of St.Michael’s Bastion. This project is being led by the Ministry for Resources and Rural Affairs in collaboration with the Ministry for Gozo.

3. Arts exhibition by Corrado Iozia at the Cittadella Centre for Culture and the Arts – The renowned artist Corrado Iozia was born in Borzonasca, Italy in 1943. Corrado has been painting for many years and has exhibited widely, pleasing the public and to critical acclaim. His pieces are in collections around the world, public, private and in Museums.

The work he exhibits now has been created in oil on canvass and in his unique and impressive melding of oil, enamels and burnished metals. A supporter of charitable causes, Corrado will donate a percentage of income from the exhibition to The OASI Foundation, Gozo.

Having been inaugurated by Frederic Azzopardi M.P. the Art of Sicily exhibition will continue in the Cittadella Centre for Culture and the Arts, The Citadel, Victoria, Gozo until Wednesday August 24.
