Collections by the Gozo SPCA are now taking place on the Gozo Channel ferries and will continue daily until next Wednesday, the 31st of August.
Every year the association’s costs increase and building works will be starting soon for a new animal welfare centre in Gozo as soon as the MEPA permit has been granted, so funds are desperately needed.
Gozo SPCA has been actively involved in the caring for rescued and abandoned animals in Gozo for almost 30 years, all the work of caring for the animals as well as the raising of funds, being undertaken by volunteers except for one employee who is seconded from the Gozo Ministry.
As well as treatment for sick and injured animals, the society carries out a neutering and spaying programme for stray dogs and feral cat populations, runs an ongoing re-homing project from the Gozo SPCA Centre in Victoria and works closely with local schools to encourage a better awareness of animal care.
If anybody thinks that they can help with a loving home for any of the animals at the Gozo SPCA centre, then please email info@spca-gozo.org. You can also contact them on 21553769 and 99475199 or visit their website at: http://www.spca-gozo.org/.
A gallery is available which features many of the animals that are currently in need of new homes, which may be viewed by clicking this link.
