The Malta Aquarist Society 8th Annual Gozo Show.
It was a time of intense preparation and work for the Gozitan members of the Malta Aquarist Society as they held their 8th Annual Show in the main hall of the old Ninu Cremona Lyceum. The show was officially opened by the Minister for Gozo Giovanna Debono.
This year a total of twenty one aquariums were on display. There was quite a variety of fish of different sizes ranging from as large as a Butterfly koi to as small as a Harlequin tetra. Each exhibitor took great care in providing the perfect setup for the type of fish on display – a planted tank for Angelfish, Tetras or Barbs whereas a rocky setup for the Tanganyika Cichlids. This ensured that the fish are displayed in their natural habitat so as to offer a more pleasant experience to the public attending the show.
The fish which impressed the judges most were the Discus owned by Charles Pisani. Second came the Butterfly Koi owned by George Scerri followed by Leon Muscat’s Tanganika Cichlids. Well done!

The next show to held by the Malta Aquarist Society will be between 8th and 16th October 2011 at the Mount Carmel Hospital main hall.
