Malta u lil hinn minnha (Malta and further out) is a new Sunday-morning prime-time show, on TVM, a weekly magazine which is set to illustrate the essence of the Maltese joie-de-vivre. It aims to expose some of the most scenic spots of the island, views whose silence has tales to tell and places whose activity brims with vitality. It shall undertake a tour around the most captivating corners which exhale the spirit of a typically Mediterranean island where time stands still.

Whatever belongs to the primary industries of agriculture and fisheries is going to feature prominently. This is understandable when considering the fact that Malta is an island which places careful emphasis on agricultural policies, has several blue-flag beaches, is developing its fish-farming and agri-tourism at an accelerated rate, and is directing a general eco lifestyle and branding. Therefore, country walks and trekking are also expected to get a fair share of airtime.

On a different note, if we are what we eat, then the Maltese people are amongst the richest and most savoury of all the peoples in the Mediterranean basin. No lavish publication can deliver the authentic way of cooking it the Maltese way like a Maltese lady (or her handwritten recipe note) can. So Malta u lil hinn minnha will not be looking at recipe books but tasting the Maltese cuisine as passionately done by the Maltese themselves as it travels across towns, villages, across borders of time, places, spaces and people.

Although the island’s shores do not cover much more than 300km2, most of the travelling to be undertaken will be local, at most, across the channel. However, as the name Malta u lil hinn minnha suggests, the programme will go further out from Malta, in search of what is essentially Maltese, even if in foreign land. So Malta u lil hinn minnha, will also feature any other popular theme related to travel.

Malta u lil hinn minnha is a high-definition production of CVC Media, which, the company said, has “the longest-running programme on Malta’s national television and 25 television awards, CVC Media pledges a radical twist to the Sunday morning entertainment.” The programme will be produced by Alvin and George Scicluna. Presenters Cynthia Zerafa, Mario Coleiro, Katya Scicluna and Paul and Denise Mintoff will be the front liners, under the direction of Alvin Scicluna.

Malta u lil hinn minnha promises to be a revolutionary travelogue on local television paying a fitting tribute to whatever belongs to sunny-Malta; whatever is white-and-red at heart.
