The Malta Medical Students’ Association (MMSA) is once again celebrating World Heart Day which is commemorated around the world on the 29th of September.

World Heart Day is an annual global event which is taken as an opportunity to increase awareness about healthy living. Tomorrow, Sunday the 25th of September, MMSA medical students will be offering the general public free blood pressure monitoring, blood glucose testing and BMI measuring.

There will be a children’s section to encourage healthy eating and exercise within the younger generation. We will also be encouraging smokers to exchange a cigarette for a fruit from one of our exhibited stands. A nutritionist will also be present on the day so as to give useful tips on how people can change their lifestyle and eating habits.

Following last year’s successful commemoration at Baystreet, this year the Association has chosed to hold the event at Bisazza street, between 9am and 2pm. Having been recently closed for public enjoyment, tha Association believe that it will be an ideal place to reach people of all ages and promote public health.

MMSA would like to thank the Health Promotion Department, ATG Ltd, our main sponsors Alfred Gera and Sons Limited, as well as the Sliema Local Council for their help and support throughout this campaign.
