A car plunged into the sea following an accident at Cirkewwa just before 6am this morning .
The driver, 21-year old Kurt Gauci, from Victoria, Gozo died as a result of the accident, which is reported to have happened near the Gozo ferries.
Kurt, was a police constable and was returning home from work in Malta.
Police investigations are underway.
Barriers have since been put up to close off the Cirkewwa quay area where Kurt Farrugia’s car tragically went into the sea.
The Funeral Mass for Kurt Gauci will be held on Monday, the 5th of December at St George’s Basilica, Victoria. At 3.40pm the Cortège will leave from Republic Street to the Basilica where the Funeral Mass will be held at 4.00pm.
I was shocked to hear of this tragic death. What a huge loss indeed rest in peace Kurt
What a traggic loss – life snuffed out just like that and at such a young age. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and those dear to Kurt. How many such incidents must happen before safety measures are taken to insure that such incidents do not occur again.
It’s so sad to hear about the loss of this young officer, it could have been prevented because it’s not the first time of such incident, few years back another similar incident took place at mgarr a father and his daughter and dog was rescued a brave diver jumped in the nick of time.
They should have a barrier in front of that boat ramp when it’s not being used, how many more lives is to be lost before doing so! Safety must come first!!

I was working at the time car fell in sea .if i could see where car was i would have jumped to the rescue but we could not see where car landed ..it was 5.30am still dark to see bottom of sea .i send my condolances to his family.he came many times in cafeteria and he was a friend .may kurt rest in peace
