Agenzija Sapport, within the Foundation for Social Welfare Services, this year has marked its tenth year of operations within the disability sector.

Set up in August 2001 under the Ministry for Social Policy, the main aim of Agenzija Sapport is to provide community and residential services to persons with disability, and their families. Agenzija Sapport works to secure the means, opportunities and services whereby persons with disability execute their right to fully participate in community life. Its mission is to enhance the quality of life of persons with disability through innovative personalised support, expertise, and advocacy.

Throughout the years, the Agency’s portfolio of services has been widened to include Residential Services, Community Services Social Work Services, Resource and On-Call Services and Day Services. Currently there are 63 clients benefiting from Residential Services, 9 Day Centres reaching 410 persons, around 100 families receiving Community Services, while over 2400 families have been reached by the Social Work Service since the Agency’s inception. All the services offered are developed to meet the individual’s needs, thus offering him / her a better quality of life based on an independent living model.

Agenzija Sapport has marked its tenth anniversary during an event held at Eden Lodge, Zurrieq. The Prime Minister, Dr. Lawrence Gonzi; Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation for Social Welfare Services Ms. Sina Bugeja; and Chief Operations Officer of Agenzija Sapport Mr. Marcel Pisani were present for this event. The Agency awarded mementos to various distinguished guests and staff representatives from all the services it offers, as recognition of their valuable contribution and support in the work the Agency carries out with persons with disability and their families.
