On the occasion of Holy Week festivities in Xaghra, the Victory Philharmonic Society will present a Concert of Sacred Music, ‘Resurrexit,’ at the Collegiate, Basilica and Sancutary of the Nativity of Our Lady, on Saturday,the 31st of March 2012 from 8pm onwards.

During this concert, the Band will commemorate the memory of four former bandsmen who passed away to eternal life during the last six years. These are Michael Refalo (September 2005), Carmel Vella (December 2009), Francis Bonello (January 2011) and Joseph Grima (November 2011). The Victory Band will also commemorate the late George Cini, co-founder of the same musical society, on the 25th anniversary of his demise.

Soprano Rita Dimech will participate in the concert, with solo parts in the Preghiera ‘Mose’ of Giacomo Puccini and in the Pregheria ‘Pieta’ Signore’ composed by Alessandro Stradella. The Nativitas Choir, under the baton of Ivan Attard, will participate, particularly during the performance of the hymn ‘Quddiem Gesu’ Msallab,’ lyrics by Mgr Michaelangelo Apap and music by Mro. Vincenzo Ciappara.

The Band will be under the direction of Mro. Joseph Galea. The Victory Band is warmly inviting everyone to attend for this concert.

Admission to the concert is free of charge.
