This weeks articles in the PDF download include the following:

1. During the annual Seher il-Punent, Ghaqda Muzikali Vizitazzjoni presented a spectacular band concert featuring popular hits of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. The band under the baton of Gozitan conductor George Apap played top hits of legendary artists such as: Tina Turner; ABBA; Queen; Michael Jackson; The Village People; Swedish rock band Europe; Whitney Houston; Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli, with the participation of renowned singers Debbie Scerri and Aldo Busuttil; and young Gozitan singer Vivienne Zammit.

The concert which was staged in the main square of Gharb was presented by TV personality Ronald Briffa. The event was organised by the Gharb local council with the collaboration of the Ministry for Gozo; Ministry for Home and Parliamentary Affairs and the Malta Tourism Authority.

2. Five members of the Tenchi Ryu Kempo Karate Jutsu school in Gozo recently represented Malta at the Kempo Arnis Federation Spring Training Camp in Novo Mesto, Slovenia.

Over 100 participants from Slovenia, Malta, Italy, Germany and the Canary Islands attended the camp, which consisted of 25 hours of intense professional instruction in karate training methods. At the end of the programme several awards were presented during a banquet dinner.

Grandmaster Borut Kincl head and founder of the Kempo Arnis Federation, presented Sensei Joseph Portelli a certificate of affiliation, since he is the official representative of Kempo Arnis Federation in Malta. Grandmaster Kincl also commended Sensei Alex Vella Muskat, Felix Sammut, Joseph Sultana and Joseph Portelli Jr for their dedication and hard work.

3. The altar boys of the Xaghra Nativity Parish, presented to school children and to the public a three act play Marcellino Hobz u Nbid, written by Joseph P. Borg, production and direction of Marvic Bajada, at the Xaghra Youth Center. Participated among others Josman Agius as Fr. superior, Michael Galea as Bro. cleaner, Zack Curmi Baby Marcellino, Carl Hili, Marcellino, Andre Cassar Marcellino, Joshua Vella Jesus, Samuel Xerri Mayor and Maribel Bajada as Mother.

Present also were Archpriests emeritus Ewkaristico Sultana, Archpriest Carmelo Refalo and Mayor Joe Cordina.

4. The cruise liner Seabourn Legend made use of the buoy off the coast of Xlendi. Passengers disembarked on boats in Xlendi, where they were welcomed by the Astra Folk Group.

The cruise liner has confirmed that it will make other stops in Gozo in the coming months. The ship’s local agents are Mifsud Brothers.
