A full day of entertainment for Lejlet Lapsi Notte Gozitana

The sixth edition of Lejlet Lapsi Notte Gozitana 2012, organised by the Ministry for Gozo, got underway with its first full day of entertainment today.

The Villa Rundle amphitheatre hosted a Déjà-vu show, of TV fame. Villa Rundle Alive saw animation areas for children with cartoon characters, face painters, balloon modellers and puppet shows. This evening the amiphitheatre was host to musical shows and entertainment.First full day underway of Lejlet Lapsi Notte Gozitana 2012There was a chance for people to take a tour, either by bus or on foot and visit some of Gozo’s rural Chapels, and enjoy the islands countryside.

In Independence Square this morning there was a piano bar, with live musical entertainment on a grand piano.

A BMX bike show took place in the service road adjacent to the new Boy’s Secondary School, with exciting entertainment for all ages.

The squares, narrow streets of Victoria and the Cittadella have come alive this evening with entertainment, theatre, music and dance, which will continue until the early hours.

The Prime Minister Dr Lawrence Gonzi,  inaugurated an exhibition on Friday evening, of Costumes from the National Collection. This exhibition is being displayed at the Exhibition Hall of the Ministry for Gozo, under the auspices of Heritage Malta.

‘Peasant Costumes – Insights into Rural Life & Society,’  provides an insight into the ordinary and arduous, yet untarnished, rural life recorded in literature and the arts, particularly that of the 19th century.

On Sunday, the 20th of May from 9.00am to 8.00pm Villa Rundle Gardens will be a riot of colourful costumes with Gozitan folk groups, traditional games and other activities.

The Amphitheatre in the gardens is the venue at 10.00am of a musical, Ghawdex u Grajjietu by Gozo Church school students. Vintage vehicles will be on display from 10.00 a.m. in the new service road adjacent to the new boys’ and girls’ secondary school.

This year’s edition of Lejlet Lapsi Notte Gozitana draws to a close with Stella and Leone, a musical based on the novel by Gozitan poetess Mary Meilaq. This is being presented by the Gozo Theatre Club under the direction of George Mizzi at Villa Rundle Gardens at 8.00pm.

Gozo Channel will be offering free return crossings between Gozo and Malta for foot passengers from midnight on Saturday, 19 May, to midnight, tomorrow, Sunday, the 20th of May. This offer does not apply for vehicles.
