Gozo Channel’s MV Ta’ Pinu will be back in full service this weekend, following the following the completion of refurbishment works which included the installation of a new hoistable deck.

This new deck will allow this ship to accommodate up to 158 cars against the original 80.

The Finance Minister, Tonio Grech, toured the ship this morning and afterwards spoke in a press conference about alleged incidents that had happened earlier this week on Gozo Channel ships, confirming that an investigation was to take place into the alleged ramp incident. He also went on to apolgise for a occurance that took place last weekend and said that a ship should only wait up to five minutes after the scheduled departure time.

Paul Curmi, the Gozo Channel Chairman said that this would help retain the scheduled timetable and provide an efficient service to its passenger.

The MV Ta’ Pinu, had been out of service for five months, this project, with an investment of €4 million, also included internal refurbishment to improve the quality of the service which is offered by the to those ferrying between the islands for work, business or pleasure, and is part of an investment totaling 7.5 million related to the upgrading of the company’s three ships.
