Arriva has announced that, following discussions with Transport Malta, as from yesterday, Sunday, the 17th June minor it introduced an improved timetable on Route X1 in Malta and Routes 301 in Gozo, as well as a new Route 136 linking Gharghur and Birkirakara.

“These amendments to the network are being introduced following discussions between Arriva, Transport Malta (TM) and Gharghur Local Council, as well as feedback from the public, in particular persons who commute between Malta and Gozo,” the company said.

The improved timetables of Route X1 and Route 301 (Gozo) will ensure that a a better connection between the Gozo ferry schedules and the departure/arrival of buses both to and from Mellieha, as well as to and from Mgarr in Gozo. Thus, those who cross between the two islands both for work or leisure will be able to depend on a more reliable bus service.

The new Route 136, was designed following discussions and feedback from Gharghur Local Council and residents and provides a service between Gharghur and Birkirkara every 60 minutes, with a first strip leaving Gharghur at 06:32. The new route departs from Gharghur church and serves the Naxxar church area and the Mosta Technopark, prior to proceed to Birkirkara via Triq il-Mosta and Triq Naxxar. The journey terminates at Birkirara Interchange and returns to Gharghur via the same route.

Arriva concluded, “A bus network is never static and must regularly be updated to reflect the needs of the communities we serve,” said a spokesperson for the local bus operator. “Today our services cover in excess of 73,000 kms a day, and all through Arriva always remains a customer-focused organisation. Alongside our partners and transport regulator TM, and with the important feedback and input of our passengers, Local Councils and others, we seek to provide solutions that meet and exceed the public’s demands.”
