A new book was launched recently on musical events of the Leone Philharmonic Society Gozo, written by the author Grazio A. Grech, seen here on the left of the photo.

This book was published for the occasion of the opening festivities of the 150th anniversary of the Soc. Fil. Leone Band of Victoria in 1863.

Several speeches took place during the book launch, which took place inside the hall of the Ministry for Gozo, including those made by the author of the book, as well as the President of the Soc. Fil. Leone Dr Michael Caruana. There was also an analysis speech of this publication by Chev. Dr Tonio Portughese and Mr John Cremona Honorary President of the Soc. Fil. Leone read two excerpts from this book.

Two young bandsmen, under the direction of Mro Antonie Theuma, performed an enjoyable concert for the audience.

Among those present for the evening were the Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono, the Mayor of Victoria, Dr. S Azzopardi, Fredrick Azzopardi MP and the former Speaker and Acting President of Malta, Mr Anton Tabone.

There were also presentations of the book by the author himself to several people.

This book is documented by 1433 reference and contains over 82,000 words and approximately 361 photos with sixteen pages of color photographs, can be obtained from the Leone Band Club Victoria Gozo for price of € 20.
