The event was was held in collaboration with the Malta Amateur Athletic Club and sponsored by Banif Bank.
The President’s Charity Fun Run started off from the President’s Palace at San Anton and continued on to St George’s Square in Valletta via Balzan, Birkirkara, Fleur-de-Lys, Sta Venera, Hamrun and Floriana. The 7 kilometre-run brought together thousands of adults and children from across Malta and Gozo. Concurrently a walkathon left from Sta Venera, led by Mrs Margaret Abela, the President’s wife.
The participants in the fun run and walkathon each donated €10 for l-Istrina. Baniff Bank, the sponsor of the event will double the amount that was collected.
The funds will go to the Community Chest Fund run by the President to provide funds for the relief of poverty, famine, distress, sickness, disability and/or any other needs to individuals, communities, institutions or organisations, whether in cash or in kind. This year some of the funds will go for Kenn ghal Sahhtek, a residential project that should be opened next year to treat people with eating disorders.
